A remote canyon, towering sandstone cliffs, steep slopes of brilliant fall foliage- this is the backdrop for West Virginia's Gauley River, a beautiful river that's ranked among the Top Ten in the world. On selected dates in September and October, an immense volume of water is released from the Summersville Dam to create exciting Adventure Class rapids downstream for the Middle and Lower sections and World-Class white water rafting on the Upper section.
