River Information Sheet
Listed below you
will find the names and descriptions of the different trips
that USA Raft runs on the New River located in Fayetteville,
West Virginia. You will meet at our outpost which has showers,
changing rooms and ample parking. Trips start on time: Please
check in one hour prior to your scheduled trip time. If
you arrive after your scheduled trip time, you will be accommodated
on the next trip with available space. A Word of Warning:
Space on our trips is usually totally reserved in advance.
Do not expect to arrive late and be able to go down the river
the same day.
Lower New
River Express - Adventure Class.
No experience required. Minimum age 12 years.
Often referred to as the "Grand Canyon of the East",
the Lower New River is host to some of the best whitewater
in the U.S. This trip is a perfect introduction to white water
rafting as well as a memorable day for the experienced rafter.
The trip is run in 10 person guided rafts. The run on the
Lower New covers about 8 miles and you will generally spend
4 to 5 hours with us (including trip, transportation, gearing
up, and pre trip speech). Trips run March through October.
Upper New
Family Express - Family Class. No experience required.
Minimum age 6 years. The scenic Upper New
is the perfect introduction to whitewater rafting for younger
children and timid rafters. A great way for families to spend
the day, this trip is run in a combination of one and two
person, inflatable kayaks and guided rafts. The run down the
Upper New covers about 6 miles and you will generally spend
5 to 6 hours with us (including trip, transportation, gearing
up, and pre trip speech). Trips run May through Labor Day.

Lodging With USA Raft
Camping:
We have spacious wooded, festive and quiet camping areas complete with picnic
tables and fire rings available at our outpost. You supply
the tent. $10.00 per person per night plus tax Sunday through Thursday;
$15.00 per person per night plus tax on Saturday.
Tents on platforms are available for those who want to skip packing a tent, setting
it up, and tearing it down after the trip. Our large, four-person tents are set up on
wooden platforms and covered by a tarp roof to protect you from the
elements. They come equipped with four foam mattresses - the only gear you will
need to bring is your sleeping bag or bedding, and pillow.
$35 per tent per night plus tax Sunday through Thursday; $40 per tent per night
plus tax on Saturday.
Rustic Cabins:
Our cabins provide a cozy shelter from the elements plus the comfort of a soft place to
bed down at night. They feature six bunks with double-size mattresses,
electricity, lights and porch. You supply pillows or linens and blankets. $65 per cabin per
night plus tax Sunday through Thursday; $75 per cabin per night plus tax for Saturday.

Directions: USA's
Fayetteville Outpost is located between Fayetteville & Oak Hill,
WV off US Rt. 19
From I-77 & I-64 - North Beckley/Exit 48:Go north on US Rt.19. The New and Gauley River outpost is 15 miles from the exit. At a traffic light on US Rt. 19, turn right onto Appalachian Drive. Turn right at the stop sign, and take the first left onto Broadway Ave. following signs to River Expeditions. The entrance to the outpost is the second left.
From the North: Pittsburgh, Buffalo.. Go to Morgantown, WV then... From Morgantown, WV: Take I-79 south to U.S. Rt.19 (the Beckley/Summersville exit). Go south on U.S. Rt.19 past the Summersville area (observe posted speed limits), approximately 40 miles. Continue south on U.S. Rt.19, crossing over the New River Gorge Bridge. Continue south to a traffic light where you'll turn left onto Appalachian Drive. Turn right at the stop sign. Take the first left onto Broadway Ave. following signs to River Expeditions, and then the second left into the driveway.
What to Wear:
No Cotton! (No sweatshirts, no sweatpants, no jeans)
Spring
and Fall
- Wet suits are necessary in March, April and October and
recommended in May and September. (If you rent from us,
make your reservations in advance and arrive one hour
prior to your scheduled trip time.)
- Swimsuit for underneath your wetsuit
- Waterproof windbreaker or rainjacket
- Wool or polypropylene sweater
- Feet: Wetsuit booties or wool socks and tennis shoes
- Hands: Wetsuit mittens or wool or polypropylene gloves
covered with dishwashing gloves

Terms and Conditions
Equipment: You will be provided with
U.S. Coast Guard approved Type V Personal Flotation Devices(Life
Jackets), paddles and helmets.
Terms: A deposit of 50% per person is required to confirm
a reservation. Reservations for the New River must be paid in full 30 days prior
to your trip date. Reservations for the Gauley River must be paid in full by July 31st.
Reservations made less than 30 days in advance for the New River or after July 31st
for the Gauley must be paid in full by cash, credit card, traveler's checks, money order
or cashiers check. No personal checks will be accepted on the day of your trip. New River
reservations not paid in full 30 days in advance of your trip, or Gauley River reservations
not paid by July 31st are subject to cancellation without notice. Your reservation is not
confirmed until your deposit is received. The person making reservations is responsible
for informing each member of the group of all USA Raft policies, as well as the scheduled
arrival and departure time of the trip. Group Leaders who collect funds from each rafter
in their party and make one payment to USA Raft will be elibigle to receive one
complimentary trip with every fifteen paid. MasterCard, Visa, Discover
and American Express welcome.
Cancellations: Due to operating funds being committed to the trip long
before the trip departure date, few if any, of these expenses can be recovered on late cancellations.
For this reason, we strictly adhere to our cancellation policy outlined below.
*Cancellations made more than 30 days prior to your trip date will allow us to refund the full
payment made . *For cancellations made less than 30 days but more than 15 days in advance,
we will refund half of the payment. No refunds will be made when a reservation is cancelled
less than 15 days prior to your trip date. All cancellations must be received by us in writing.
No refunds and/or rain checks will be issued for no shows on the day of the trip.
*A $20 cancellation fee for each guest cancelling will be assessed.
Liability: Outfitter and reservations services
assume no liability for personal injury or loss of equipment. You
will be required to sign a personal injury and photo waiver before
your trip. A copy of the waiver is available on request.
Minors: All participants under the age of 18 must
have a completed release form signed by parent or legal guardian.

Consumption of alcohol or drugs is not permitted on raft
trip: Intoxicated persons will be refused, without refund.
Rates: All rates are stated per person. Prices do not
include regulatory agency fees or applicable sales
taxes. Prices are subject to change without notice.
Weather: Trips go rain or shine. (You are going to get
wet anyway!)
Outfitters reserve the right to change trip format, rivers, river section(s),
raft size, number of guests per raft, trip times, etc. due to weather conditions, water levels or
other factors beyond our control. USA Raft reserves the right to reschedule or cancel without
notice your trip under these conditions: You miss your scheduled trip time; You show signs of being
under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs; You are physically unable to participate in your scheduled trip;
USA Raft feels that you are not suited for your scheduled trip.
All of the forgoing terms and conditions shall be interpreted
under the laws of the State of West Virginia.
